Big Sister

After months of discussing this elusive baby Pierson, Audrey finally got to meet her new baby brother on Thursday. Despite her insistence until the end, at least with her teachers at school, that a brother was to be named Closet Door, we instead chose to go with Ian. Audrey had a chance to meet her new brother on Thursday afternoon. She accepted that his name was not Closet Door, and then promptly asked if she could hold him. She did an awesome job holding him and giving him kisses on her own initiative. She didn't want to give him up for grandma or grandpa to hold him, but agreed to do so after she was told she could still pat him and would have lots of opportunity to hold him again later.

Audrey's mother has been missing her terribly but we get to go home on Sunday, just in time for Father's Day.

What a great Father's Day it will be.

Audrey and I had our last Monday together, with just the two of us. I'm glad that I knew this was our last one, so I could treasure it a little more. We had a pretty low key day and just enjoyed "hanging out", as Audrey calls it. With our traditional sitting-on-the-front-steps-enjoying-a- popsicle kind of day. It was hard for her to understand why I had tears in my eyes when I asked her if we could take a picture with just the two of us. She wiped away my tears and told me all would be okay, and I know that they will. She then asked, as part of a song she learned at school,

"Are you sad? Are you mad? Are you happy? Or are you just awesome?"

She always knows how to bring a smile to my face.

Dr's appt

Fris tried *really* hard to cancel her dr's appt on Saturday, but the dr came and found her, again, yesterday. When Fris lays in the corner of the dining room, it's a sign that she would like to be left alone. But, this dr was quite persistent.

Oh how patient Fris has learned to become. If she only knew what Thursday involves...

Audrey-isms

Audrey LOVES corn on the cob. However, there is no arguing with her - it's actually called 'corn off the cob'.

Can't remember how this came up yesterday, but I asked Audrey if she has a good daddy.
"Yes - he has CUUUUUTTTTE hair!"

For the second time in the past month, Audrey has told her teacher that if baby Pierson is a boy, we're naming him, Closet Door.

Audrey is starting dance class this Thursday, and her teacher's name is Trish. Audrey's version? "Tush!" Not sure if I should warn this teacher I have yet to meet...

KISS!

When I went to check on Audrey last night before I headed for bed, she was parallel to the footboard, and lodged right up against it (likely with the best view of those wall letters!). She wasn't at an angle that I would readily move her, so I enlisted Eric's help. When he repositioned her, she yelled,

"KISS!", with eyes still sealed shut.

He rearranged her covers, and I left the room chuckling. Since her request had been ignored, she repeated herself:

"KISS!"

So, of course her daddy gave her a kiss.

I asked Eric when she had started demanding kisses in her sleep.

"I don't know but, I do know what will be on the blog tomorrow!"
